What is the listening process

A
  1. Selecting: one sound/object to attend to (eg, the message)
  2. Attending: Direct your attention to the message; psychological attention
  3. Understanding: decoding, attaching meaning to the message
  4. Remembering: at least long enough to respond
  5. Responding: confirming your understanding of the message
