letting your EMOTIONS get in the way, also SELECTIVE LISTENING where you chose what to hear.

What is the listening process
A
- Selecting: one sound/object to attend to (eg, the message)
- Attending: Direct your attention to the message; psychological attention
- Understanding: decoding, attaching meaning to the message
- Remembering: at least long enough to respond
- Responding: confirming your understanding of the message
