Periosteum=
A
thin layer of tissue that coats our bones except for the end of the joint where the cartilage is
(Think of peeling an egg, the thin layer of ‘film’ on the egg would be the periosteum)
2
Q
Sharpey’s fibres attach
A
-periosteum to bone and ligaments
-muscle tendon to bone
3
Q
There are 4 different cells in our bones:
A
Osteocytes
Osteoblasts
Osteogenic cells
Osteoclasts
4
Q
Osteocyte=
A
maintains bone tissue
5
Q
Osteoblast=
A
be surrounded in its own bone matrix to become an osteocyte (forms bone matrix)
6
Q
Osteogenic cells=
A
stem cells
7
Q
Osteoclasts cells=
A
reabsorb old bone cells (body reabsorbs calcium if there is decreased stress on bones)
8
Q
If there is increase stress on the bones, the body
A
lays down more calcium on bones
