Lecture 4 Flashcards
what is polygenic inheritance
it is the phenotype that is influenced by the genes.
what is sexual selection?
it is a case of natural selection, where there is competition for mating opportunities that can increase mating success.
what is the difference between intersexual and intrasexual selection?
intrasexual is competition within one sex for mating and intersexual is one sex choosing mates from the other sex for mating
what is sexual dimorphism?
it is an adaptation that only benefits one sex, while it is harmful to the other sex.
what is the heterozygote advantage
when one copy of an allele has a recessive locus
what is frequency -dependent selection?
is when one allele is more favoured than another
with sickle-cell anemia who has the stronger fitness?
Ss has a higher fitness than SS
