Lecture 4 Flashcards
Why does a positive acceleration not always mean speeding up?
Depends on direction.
If a and v have the same sign = speeding up.
Describe angular motion.
All parts of the body moves through the same angle but not the same linear displacement.
What does a vertex usually represent?
A joint centre.
How do you determine the number of revolutions if you are given degrees?
You take the number of degrees you have and divide it by 360.
How many degrees are in a radian?
1 rad = 57.3 degrees.
What is the difference between an absolute and relative angle.
AA - used for a segment and tells you information about orientation.
RA- used for a joint and formed between longitudinal axes of body segments.
What is important to remember in terms of angular displacement?
Never exceeds 360 degrees or 2 pi rad
Why do points farther along a path have a greater linear velocity?
They have to travel a longest distance in a shorter amount of time.
How do you increase your linear tangential velocity?
Must either increase the radius of rotation or the angular velocity
Why should the Happy Gilmore golf technique work?
Summation of linear forces from run and golf swing.
