Lecture 3: Urology and Andrology Flashcards
What are the 4 components of the Urinary Trigone?
1) Ureteric Orifices
2) Internal Urethral Orifice
3) Interureteric Fold
4) Uvula of the Urinary bladder
Label A-F
A) Fundus of the Urinary Bladder
B) Body of the Urinary Bladder
C) Apex of the Urinary Bladder
D) Neck of the Urinary Bladder
E) Detrusor M
F) Vesical fascia
What are the 4 major components of the Male Urethra; where is each found?
1) Preprostatic Urethra (in neck of urinary bladder)
2) Prostatic Urethra (in the Prostate Gland)
3) Membranous Urethra (short, through External Urethral Sphincter)
4) Spongy Urethra (inside the Corpus Spongiosum)
Label A-F; what part of urethra is this?
A) Urethral Crest
B) Prostatic Sinus
C) Opening for the Prostatic Ductules
D) Prostatic Utricle
E) Opening for the Ejaculatory Duct
F) Seminal Colliculus
*Part of the Prostatic Uretha
What are the 3 components of the Spongy Urethra?
- Intrabulbar Fossa
- Navicular Fossa
- Urethral Glands
Label A-F
A) Corpus Cavernosum
B) Glans Penis
C) Bulb of the penis
D) Intrabulbar fossa
E) Corpus spongiosum
F) Navicular fossa
What are the 2 components of the Female Urethra?
1) Paraurethral Glands (homologous to the Prostate Gland)
2) Urethral Glands (mucus secreting glands)
What are the 3 perineum of the external penis and scrotum?
1) Penile Raphe
2) Scrotal Raphe
3) Perineal Raphe
What are the components of the Spermatic Cord?
- Ductus deferens
- Testicular A.
- Artery of the Ductus Deferens
- Cremasteric A.
- Pampiniform Plexus (of veins)
- Sympathetic nerves fibers
- Genital branch of the Genitofemoral N.
What is the Ductus Deferens; function; where does it begin; and where does it go and become?
- Muscular tube which conveys sperm
- Continuation of the duct of the Epididymis, beginning at the Tail
- Travels thru Inguinal Canal as part of spermatic cord and enters pelvis
- Swells to the Ampulla of the Ductus Deferens and joins w/ the ducts of the Seminal Vesicles to form Ejaculatory Ducts
CN: What is a Deferenectomy or Vasectomy?
Ligation and/or excision of the Ductus Deferens through an incision made in the superior scrotum, thereby rendering the resultatnt ejaculant devoid of Spermatozoa
What are the 3 layers of the Scrotum; where is the fascia derived from?
- Skin
- Dartos Fascia (derived from Membranous Superficial Fascia)
- Dartos M. (smooth muscle fibers)
What are the 3 layers of the Spermatic cord (superficial to deep); what is each derived from?
1) External Spermatic Fascia (from the External Oblique aponeurosis)
2) Cremasteric Fascia (from the Internal Oblique aponeuorsis)
3) Internal Spermatic Fascia (from the transversalis fascia)
Where is the Cremaster M. derived from; what is its function; what innervates this muscle?
- From the Internal Oblique M.
- Reflexively draws the Testis superiorly to produce an optimal termperature for Spermatogenesis
- Innervated by the Genital Branch of Genitofemoral N.
Label A-D and the function of each?
A) Rete testis: space where sperm enter Efferent Ductule of Epididymis
B) Seminiferous Tubules: site of sperm formation
C) Straight tubules: transfer sperm to Rete Testis
D) Septum: between lobular formations of Seminiferous and Straight tubules
