what wrong and what is this associated with

A

left atrial enlargement
DVD

17
Q

what wrong

A

Enlarged trachobronchial LN- compresses trachea ventrally not dorsally like enlarged LA

18
Q

Case 1: 10yr MN Labrador retriever with acute cough, RR= 80, femoral pulse (95), increased inspiratory effort, abdominal distention.

Grade 2/6 plateau shaped systolic murmur with PMI over left apex, tachycardia, and irregular rhythm. Pulmonary crackles in right ventral caudal lung field.

Based on age, breed, signs. What are you concerned about. What valve is PMI over

A

age: acquired, large breed dog, low grade murmur: DCM

PMI: left apex: mitral valve

Pulmonary signs: Left sided congestive heart failure

tachycardia and irregular rhythm consistent with a-fib or a-flutter– CHF

19
Q

case: 6yr, FS Westie presents with chronic cough that occurs when excited. Panting and femoral pulse= 90, inducible tracheal cough

Grade 4/6 plateau shaped systolic murmur with PMI over left apex, HR=90, irregular rhythm and pulmonary crackles.

Based on hx, age and breed what are you concerned about. Where is PMI, what are pulmonary signs indicative of

A

older, small breed dog, high grade murmur- DVD
PMI: mitral valve

Breed pulmonary signs consistent with pulmonary fibrosis
