Lecture 2 Flashcards
Name the 3 planes of the body in the anatomical position
Frontal/Coronal, Median saggital, transverse/horizontal
Right Border of the Heart?
Right Atrium
Left Border of the Heart?
Left Ventricle
Superior Border of the Heart?
right and left atrium and Great vessels
Inferior border of the heart
left and right ventricle
Boundaries of the superior mediastinum
S: superior thoracic aperture, P: T1 to T4, A: Manubrium of the sternum, I: Sternal angle
boundaries of the middle mediastinum
heart and roots of the great vessels
boundaries of the anterior mediastinum
A: between body of sternum and pericardium
boundaries of the posterior mediastinum
between posterior pericardium and the vertebral bodies
what type of cell has fat in the cytoplasm
lipocytes
what type of cells gives rise to connective tissues
mesenchymal cells
another name for loose connective tissue
areolar tissue
what is in a neurovascular bundle
VAN + LYMPH!!!
What is superficial fascia
loose 3-d fascia that is right under the skin
where does the mammary gland originate from
from the ectoderm, supported by the mesenchyme
where is the mammary gland located
superficial fascia
what is below superficial fascia
deep fascia
name 3 things contained in superficial fascia
blood vessels. lymphatics, cutaneous nerves, sweat glands, hair follicles and the mammary gland.
what are the pectoralis major and serratus anterior muscles attached to
the rib cage
what is an aponeurosis
another name is the pectoral fascia, it’s the sheet of pearly-white fibrous tissue that takes the place of a tendon
which way does the breast develop into
into auxiliary tail (where 60% of tumours develop)
which way do the legs of the embryo grow
inward rotation to assume a plantar position
which way do the arms of the embryo grow
outward rotation (to assume the anatomical position) and form a palmer surface
when is the most vulnerable time of pregnancy
first 60 days, but most structures are already formed
what are mesenchymal cells
embryonic multipotential cells, dormant cells in connective tissues may also exist
what do mesenchymal cells give rise to
fibroblasts elastoblasts and cells form fibers and supporting ground substance
what is fascia
general descriptive term for connective tissues
two layers the skin is composed of
epidermis and dermis
what does the ectoderm give rise to?
epithelia lining surfaces (includes central nervous system, epidermis and its appendages such as hair, nail, mammary gland etc)
what does the endoderm give rise to?
gives rise to the epithelia ling the gut , respiratory system
what does the mesoderm give rise to?
gives rise to the connective tissues of the body , cardiovascular system, urogenital system.
