What are the five different classifications of the Multiaxial System?
- Primary
- Long standing difficulties

The creation of Behavioral Addictions category. Pathological gambling is going to be in this category. NOT ONLY ABOUT SUBSTANCE

It’s moving into BEHAVIOR
How does a disorder get into the DSM?

- Disability (can’t take care of themselves)
- Deviance (different from norm)
- Danger (danger to themselves or others)
Why do we diagnose using DSM?
It’s the best we can do. It’s blurry, we can’t run blood tests etc., but gives us a basis.
What does NOS stand for?
Not otherwise specified. (e.g Mood Disorder (NOS). You might have the disorder but missing one or two criteria
