What are taxonomies?
a classification system, to organize thinking around complex system/concept. Applies a set of rules that help improve communication and understanding. Helps to stimulate theory and research around a topic
What is the taxonomic codes of occupational performance?
Voluntary Movement Action Task Activity Occupation
What are the differences b/w occupation and activity?
occupation - something that is personally meaningful, constructed in a unique personal way by an individual
activity - the generic, public interpretation of what someone does and anyone could do it
What are the parameters of occupation?
- capacities, knowledge, skills & attitudes
- who and with whom - who does what in society
- what, how, where & using what (rules, norms, processes)
- temporal
- outcomes
- meanings/standards
- socio-cultural, political, economic, geographic, and historical context
What are the intrinsic/extrinsic factors leading to occupation?
Intrinsic - basic needs, personality, knowledge, skills, abilities, age, gender, health and illness, values, ses
extrinsic - culture, physical, temperospatial, social factors, circumstance, tangible rewards
What is flow experience? How can it bring occupational satisfaction?
Flow experience - is unwavering focus on the task at hand, total engagement that u lose awareness of time, need adequate skills.
Very nature of occupation is personally constructed. those who acheive flow will find great occupational satisfaction
