How do bees increase number of foragers/foraging?

Answer 1

• through waggle and round dances
• DVAVing on nestmatse to recruit to dance floor where they will experiences dancing foragers (long term up regulation of forager numbers to match the resource base)
• empty comb (volatile chemicals from empty cells stimulates increased foraging)
• tremble dances- when cells are filled and foragers cannot pass nectar to receiver bees quickly
• stop signals (worker piping)
