- Tear film - Dry eye
Reduced tear quantity
Reduced tear film stability - Reduced corneal sensitivity
- Greater risk of viral
and fungal infections

A
- Corneal nerve damage
- Keratopathy
Superficial punctate keratitis
Recurrent corneal erosions
Persistent epithelial defects

What can diabetes do to the iris and lens?
A
Neovascularisation and cataract
Mitotic pupil
Lenticular induced myopic shift

How is diabetic retinopathy classified?
A
- Proliferative
- Maculopathy, (if involved)
- ## Focal, ischaemic or diffuse leakage of vessels

What are the signs of a non-proliferative DB retinopathy?
A
- Microaneurysms
- Intraretinal haemorrhages
- Hard/Soft exudates

How is db retinopathy treated?
A
- Laser for blockages and leakages
- Avastin to help with macular oedema and neovascularisaiton
