How is the lipid bilayer energetically favorable?
A
The hydrophilic heads and hydrophobic tails are assembled spontaneously in a way that minimizes disruption between hydrogen bonds of water molecules.

What is the function of the Translocon (translocator complex)?
A
It creates membrane topology. A protein is popped through the translocon channel which helps it to be synthesized inside the membrane. The hydrophobic domains are split between the start-transfer and stop-transfer sequences.
