efficency is considered what

efficient design is
a project with a minimum of waster or unusable space, materials, etc..
what are some strategies for efficincy
- eliminate unnecessary circulation
- can circulation be more than just circulation? can a wall be more than just a wall?
- flexible space
- bring in more light
- connection to the outside/inside relationships
- materiality and color, material changes to define space
- ceiling heights and space
efficiency ratio=
the ratio of the net assignable are to the unassignable area expressed AS PERCENTAGES OF THE GROSS AREA
net assigned area
the area that includes the sum of ALL of the functional usable spaces required to serve the basic program
unassignable area
all other spaces in the building including but not limited to circulation, mechanical, public restrooms, ect.
gross area=
the sum of the assignable and unassignable areas
school boards would like to keep the project fairly efficient with what ratio of percentages

if you have 30,000 net square feet/ .67 would equal what
