International Relations vs international relations
Capitalized - disciplinary fields, studies politics
Uncapitalized - what we study (the actual relationships)
Def - Anarchy
No higher authority present (opposite of hierarchy)
Def - Sovereign State
Organization that claims sole legitimate legal authority within a geographic area (borders)
Def - Agents
Persons / Entities that act on behalf of another group. Ex- individuals, groups, leaders, states, environment
Def - Structure
Configuration of Units - global distributions of (power, social, economic, environmental, etc) that determines the behavior of the state
Def - Theory
Organized system of knowledge that applies in variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena (we need a theory to help organize understanding of world)
