Lecture 1 cels191 Flashcards
what are 3 domain of life
Bactera,Eukarya,Archae
Are bacteria and Archaea prokaryotic cells or eukaryotic cells
Prokaryotic cells
State differences between prokaryotic cells and eukaryotic cells
prokaryotic cells don’t have a nucleus or a nuclear envelope. Eukaryotic cells have a nuclear envelope and all organelles are membrane enclosed. Prokaryotic cells have circular chromosomes.
Outline the characteristics of life
Cellular respiration
Reproduction
Metabolism
Homeostasis
Heredity
Response to stimuli
Growth and development
Adaption through evolution
The 4 characteristics for natural selection
Variation

Time
Outline the scale of life
The scale of life can from nano meters to kilometres
Outline what a phylogenetic tree represents
Can tell us about the relationships of life on earth
What is the endosymbiosis theory
States that mitochondria and chloroplasts( in eukaryotics) are derived from bacteria which is prokaryotic. ( learn in detail later )
