Hubs Lecture 2 Flashcards
Define superior and inferior
Superior is towards the head( nose is superior to belly button)
Inferior is towards the feet( knee is inferior to thighs)
Define lateral and Medial and give examples
Lateral is away from the midline( fingers are medial to belly button)
Medial is towards the midline ( belly button is medial to fingers)
Define distal and proximal and give examples
Distal is towards the fingers and toes( distance so further away)
Proximal is closer to the trunk/core
Elbows are distal to belly button
Anterior and posterior
Anterior is towards the front
Posterior towards the back
What’s the Anatomical position
Upright
Facing forward
Feet together
Palm facing upwards
Human tissues act 2008
Informed consent
Mutual consent from body donor and immediate family
Most bodies are held for 18 months but can be longer for teaching research
Explain the concept of homeostasis
Define deep and superficial and give an example
Deep is further away from the skin
Superficial is closer to the surface of the skin.
Muscle is deep to the skin
Skin is superficial to the muscles
Define all 3 body planes and how they split the body
Sagital divides the body into left and right
Transverse separates the body in half from belly button
Coronal separates the body into anterior and posterior so front and back
Movements in Sagital plate
Flextion- decreases angle brings fleshy bits together
Extension- increases angle
Dorsiflextion- toes point towards face decreasing angle of the ankle joint
Plantarflextion- toes point towards ground increasing angle
Movements in Sagital plates are side to side
Movements in coronal plane
Movements in coronal plane are side to side.
Abduction- movements of limb away from the midline
Adduction- movement of limb toward the body ( think adding onto the body)
Inversion- sole of the foot faces towards midline( think inwards)
Eversion- sole of the foot moves away from midline Adduction
Circumduction
Combination of 4 movements
Adduction, abduction, flextion , extension
No rotation but it’s like a circle
Rotation
Rotation along the long axis of a joint
Medial- internal rotation
Lateral- external rotation
Pronation
Palm faces posterior
So palm faces back
Suprination
Palm faces anterior and forearms bones parralel. Like anatomical position
