If a dog has just started with bloody discharge and started licking her vulva 5 days ago, the owner wants to breed accurately as possible, what is the next step?
Vaginal cytology to see if she is in proestrus. Draw blood, spin down and FREEZE. Keep doing this until the cytology begins to show estrus or for a few more days then run progesterone test.
26
When should breeding occur in relation to the LH surge?
4 days after the LH Surge
27
Where is the most common source of blood in semen?
The surface of the penis
28
How can you check to see if there is infection?
RBC to WBC ratio, if there are more WBC than RBC an infection is likely
29
If you have Thawed frozen semen, when do you need to breed?
5 - 6 days after LH Surge
30
So for these more expensive breeding's you might want to do a P4 and what else?
LH serum to get an accurate time of the LH surge
31
When do you do transcervical insemination?
When you are inseminating with thawed frozen semen.
32
What is the time frame of function for: 1. Fresh/chilled semen in vagina - 2. Fresh semen in uterus - 3. Chilled semen in uterus - 4. Thawed frozen semen in uterus-
