  • PLANE (flat bones ~ gliding) [intercarpal joints]
  • HINGE (convex & concave bone surface articulation ~ flexion/extension) [elbow joint]
  • PIVOT (round bone enclosed by a ring ~ rotation) [radioulnar joint]
  • CONDYLOID (oval shaped convex bone surface articulating w/ oval shaped depression ~ flexion/extension, adduction/abductio) [wrist joint]
  • SADDLE (saddle shape bone surface articulates w/ rider shaped bone surface ~ flexion/extension, adduction/abduction) [1st carpometacarpal joint]
  • BALL-and-SOCKET (ball like surface - cup like surface ~ flex/exten, add/abd, rotation) [shoulder joint]
