Q

Tensor veli palatine action

A

Acting on both sides, they tighten the palatine aponeurosis, so that other muscles can alter the position of the soft palate.
Also, it opens the austachian tube to equalize air pressure between nasal cavity and middle ear.

Q

Levator veli palatine action

A

Bilateral contraction of the levator veli palatine, pulls the soft palate upwards and backwards, shut off the nasal part of the pharynx from the oral part.

Also, opens the austachian tube, and permits equalization of air pressure between nasal cavity and middle ear
