A

poor ovarian response and non-pregnancy; suggests compromised ovarian reserve

WHat is AMH?

A

protein secreted by granulosa cells during gonadotropin independent phase of follicular recruitment; marker of follicular depletion.

  • very high AMH = PCOS
  • normal AMH = normal
  • low AMH = low number of remaining oocytes

How can you tell ovarian function by looking at it?

A
  • measure basal antral follicle count by sonogram; correlates wtih number of primordial follicles remaining
