Learning Test Flashcards
Unconditioned Stimuli
stimuli that automatically triggers a response
Unconditioned Response
unlearned natural response to US
Neutral Stimulus
a stimulus that does not cause a response
Conditioned Stimuli
the previously irrelevant stimulus
Conditioned Response
learned response from a previously neutral stimuli
Extinction
diminishing a CR; occurs when CS is not followed by US repeatedly
Acquisition
the phase associating a neutral stimulus (bell) to the US (food)
Discrimination
learned ability to distinguish between CS and stimuli that is not conditioned
Generalization
tendency that similar stimuli will elicit similar responses
Positive Reinforcement
- add stimulus to increase behavior
ex. watching your favorite TV show after doing all your homework
Positive Punishment
- add stimulus to decrease behavior
ex. getting a ticket for speeding
Negative Reinforcement
remove stimulus to increase behavior
ex. take away his bathroom cleaning chore for every week he cleans his room
Negative Punishment
- remove stimulus to decrease behavior
ex. teen is grounded for misbehavior
Fixed-Ratio

ex. get free coffee after 10 visits

- random and based on amount
ex. slot machines
