Learning Loop QA Stakeholders Flashcards

To learn more about the stakeholders within the context of the Learning Loop

1
Q

Looking at the stakeholder analysis grid, which stakeholders should you nurture and win over?

A

The snipers, they have impact and influence but may not really understand how you (L&D) add value to the organisation. Keep telling them of your successes and any value that you add.

Q

Looking at the stakeholder analysis grid, which stakeholders should you use to boost the morale of your team?

A

The networkers. They have your interests at heart and can give you a boost when you are flagging, because they believe in you. The danger is that you spend ALL your time with them and not making any progress.

Looking at the stakeholder analysis grid, which stakeholders should you spend least time with?

A

The “undead”. They neither support you nor have any impact in the organisation, so why bother?

Q

How will the organisational structure affect how L&D operates with the stakeholders? (e.g. hierarchical structure)

A

If the structure is very hierarchical, then the first difficulty will be accessing the stakeholders as they will naturaly have gatekeepers (PA’s) to keep you away! It is unlikely that they will be fully engaged with the learners or the outcomes. If the structure is flat or flexible, the stakeholders will be more involved with the nitty-gritty and will probably engage more with the follow up.

Q

How will the organisational culture affect how L&D operates with the stakeholders?

A

Depending on the culture, stakeholders will accept a challence from L&D, but others may not. L&D may be seen as a change agent or it may be seen as a “nice to have” where they do not have much say. Interactions with stakeholders therefore can be difficult where partnering is not encouraged.

Q

Looking at the stakeholder analysis grid, which stakeholders should you spend most time with?

A

The evangelists will not only support you , but they are influencers in the organisation and can get things done. Next would be the networkers, who will support you and who knows, they may grow to have more impact in the organisation.

Q

What is the optimum number of stakeholders?

A

It is not the number that is important but the quality. If you only have one stakeholder that is both supportive and influential in the organisation, that may be all you need. If you have some supportive ones with not much impact, you may need more of these to make a difference and be heard.
