What may clients with learning disabilities have difficulties with?
they may have difficulties with household tasks etc.

they may have other health needs
What do 25-40% of people with learning difficulties also suffer from?
25-40% of people with learning difficulties also suffer from mental health problems (eg this is much more common in people with dementia)
Where were people with learning disabilities cared for until relatively recently?
until relatively recently, they were cared for in hospitals and institutions and were almost invisible to the general population
What did the Community Care Act (1990) increase and enable?
the Community Care Act (1990) increased the number of people that were living in the community with learning disabilities and enabled them to receive support rather than be cared for in an institution
What did the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 provide?
the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 provided legal protection from discrimination in employment, access to public buildings and the renting of accommodation
