To say ‘did you x’?
Like ‘what did you eat / drink / do?’
These verbs will then end on:
-aste (for verbs ending on -ar)
-iste (for verbs ending on -er / -ir)
What did you eat yesterday?
Que comiste ayer? (comer = -er verb so ends on -iste)
Did you sleep well?
Dormiste bien?
Where did you buy it? It is very pretty
Donde lo compraste? Es muy bonito
For al the irregular verbs the ‘did you’ version ends on -iste
Had = Did you have?
Could = Could you?
Did = Did you do?
Wanted = Did you want?
Went = Did you go?
Tuve = Tuviste?
Pude = Pudiste?
Hice = Hiciste?
Quise = Quisiste?
Fui = Fuiste?
Did you have time?
Tuviste tiempo?
This night, last night
Esta noche, anoche
Did you go to the party last night?
Fuiste a la fiesta anoche?
Did you have fear? / Were you afraid?
Tuviste miedo?
Why did you do it?
Por que lo hiciste?
