Define situational leadership
A common sense, contingency based leadership model that consists of four common leadership styles with two points of clarification:
Common sense isn’t common
Contingency based = the correct leadership style based on the circumstances/employee
What’s needed to be successful with this strategy?
Employ one of the four styles of leadership by figuring for the highest probability of success. This requires evaluating the task to be performed with the ability of the employee and their willingness to perform the task.
4 styles
1) telling, directing or guiding
2) selling, coaching or explaining
3) participating, facilitating, collaborative
4) delegating, empowering or monitoring
These are based on abilities, confidence and willingness of the employee
Goals
To take someone unable, insecure or unwilling and develop them into someone who is able, confident and willing by recognizing their strengths and weaknesses.
Servant oriented:
Know faults in your own personality, be yourself, connect, build trust, trust leads to following, extreme ownership. Loyalty. Empower strengths. Recognition.
