Leadership is the process, act, or form of influence that gets others to do something.
What is Followership?
Followership is when people decide to be influenced by others.
What is Trait Theory?
Trait theory is the idea that stable individual traits that do not change overtime lead to inherent leadership capabilities. There is no middle ground for development to become a leader.
What is Behavioral Theory?
Behavioral Theory is the idea that leaderships can be taught and trained, behaviors can be adopted to become a better, effective, more efficient leader.
What are Contigency Theories?
Contigency Theories are leadership in the context of the people around them that allow and permits leaders to emerge and flourish.
What is Leader Motive Profile?
Leader Motive Profile is that leaders need to have overriding need for power that is necessary for influence over affiliation w/ group members.
What is Manifest Needs Theory?
Manifest Needs Theory is the way of explaining what motivates people. People have need for affiliations, competence, and control. These all coincide to drive people to do things.
What is Traits and Leader Emergence?
Traits and Leader Emergence refers to the high extraversion, low neuroticism, and authoritarianism that lead to a greater chance of becoming a leader.
What are the Ohio Studies?
Ohio Studies involve two dimensions of effective leadership, structure (order, communication) and consideration (being nice, caring). Consideration is incredibly important to effective leadership.
What is Initiating Structure?
Initiating Structure defines/organizes job roles. Oriented toward goal attainment and establishes channels of communication.
What is Consideration?
Consideration is the show of respect/concern for followers.
What is Authentic Leadership?
Authentic Leadership is relational transparency, balanced processing, and internalized moral perspective.
What are Ethical Leadership Behaviors?
Ethical Leadership Behaviors include signaling behavior, prosocial values + moral emotions, and being fair and upholding of norms and values.
What is Destructive Leadership?
Destructive Leadership is signaled by charisma, power used for self-promotion, narcissism, negative life themes.
