What is an EAT used for? (1)
Approach Control shall calculate EATs for aircraft likely to be delayed before commencing an intermediate approach
When should an EAT be issued? (1)
If the delay is 10 minutes or more
What statement should be used if there is no delay? (1)
“No delay expected”
What is an Expected Approach Time (EAT)? (1)
The time of an estimate that an aircraft will be able to leave the holding facility to commence approach for a landing
Specifiations of an EAT? (4)
- Based on landing interval
- Expressed as actual times
- Revised as often as required until A/C leaves the holding facility
- Passed to aircraft well in advance
What does the Approach sequence do? (7)
MAXIMISE TRAFFIC for MINIMAL DELAY
- Consider priority
- Issue EATs
- Keep aircraft stepping down to be ready when cleared
- Lowest level to hold? - Check transition
- Apply vertical separation
- Think landing interval
Holding for weather improvement phraseologies
First a/c given “no traffic delay expected” (Ʌ)
Subsequent a/c given “delay not determined… (number)… aircraft holding ahead for weather improvement” (Z)
Expected onward clearance time phraseology
“C/S expect onward clearance at time…. At flight level……”
