what are the symptoms of lateral epicondylitis
A
PAIN
- insidious - occurs 24 hours after unaccustomed activity involving wrist extension
- actute - single exertion involving wrist extensors (heavy lifting)
- pain may radiate down forearm into dorsum of hand

what are the signs?
A
- pain on resisted wrist and finger extension and radial deviation
pain on passive extensor stretch
-reduced grip strength

what investigation would take place
A
usually not performed
- X-ray - degenerative change
- ultrasound may should tendon damage

what management would be given
A
- rest
- NSAID’s
- mobilisation
- stretches
- muscle strengthening
- bracing/taping
- ultrasound
- corticoseroid injection
- botulinum toxin
- autologous blood injection
- shock wave therapy
- surgery
