Currently, there are 22 languages listed in the Eighth
Schedule of the Indian Constitution.

Initially, 14 languages were included in the Eighth
Schedule: Assamese, Hindi, Malayalam, Punjabi,
Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Marathi, Sanskrit, Urdu,
Gujarati, Kashmiri, Odia, and Tamil.
