BCAS subscribes to translation services for a wide array of languages.
This service can be utilized to assist with call assessment either in the dipatch centre or through a third party such as a crew at the scene

Procedure for contacting a Translator

A
  • Try to find out from the caller what language they speak.
    If the specific language CANNOT be discovered through the patient or family
    *translation services can figure out what language is needed by quickly speaking with the caller
  • Use Speed Dial #400, identify the language when asked by the operator
  • Use access code 911
  • the interpreter will be connected
  • Proceed with the call assessment
