A
Most fire dept will respond to ambulance calls routinely when specifically requested to do so.

You should notify the appropriate fire dispatcher when
A
- The calling part specifically request the fire dept
- They are required in accordance with MPDS and the Resource Allocation Pan. (usually done electronically by the Intergraph CAD)
- there is an MVA (usually done electronically by the Intergraph CAD)
- An ambulance has an usually long distance to travel to the scene, or when the fire department is as close or closer to the call
- A second ambulance is unavailable to assist in an ALS call
- The ambulance crew needs help in loading the patient
(lift assist) - An overload situation exists and an ambulance is not immediately available

A
Remember to notify the fire depts of the ambulance’s response priority.
(ie. fire depts are notified of all MVAs, even if an ambulance is responding routine for minor injuries)
