Remembering different types of nouns, verbs and adjectives
Define a Collective Noun.
Groups of people, animals or places (e.g. geese)
Define a Stative Verb.
A verb which expressed states of being or conditions (e.g. He is tall).
Define a Main Auxiliary Verb.
Can be the main verb by itself or used alongside others (e.g. “I was going to be late”)
Define a Modal Auxiliary Verb.
A verb that conveys shades of meaning relating to ability, intention, possibility or necessity (e.g “It would be splendid”)
Define an Attributive Adjective.
It goes in front of the noun to emphasise it (e.g. “the bronze car”)
Define a Predicative Adjective.
It goes after a verb to place emphasis on it (e.g. It was tall)
Give some examples of Intensifying Adverbs.
So, really, very, extremely, etc.
What type of adjectives are the following: pretty, prettier, prettiest.
Pretty = base adjective, Prettier = comparative, Prettiest = superlative
