What is the other name for Anterior and posterior, and what do they mean?
Ventral and Dorsal. Front and Back of the body
What is the other name for Cranial and Caudal, and what do they mean?
Superior and Inferior. Towards the head and towards the feet. Direction.
What does medial and lateral mean?
Medial is towards the middle of the body lateral is towards the outside of the body.
Proximal and distal meaning?
Proximal is the reference for something closer to the trunk and distal is the reference for further away from the trunk.
Superficial and Deep/profundus meaning?
Superficial is for things closer to the surface of the body, Deep is for things closer to the center of the location.
Ipsilateral and Contralateral or Homolateral and Heterolateral meaning?
Ipsilateral and Homolateral mean on the same side. Contralateral and Heterolateral meaning on opposite sides.
What are the three planes and axis?
Frontal plane - saggital axis, Transverse plane - Longitudinal axis, Saggital plane - Frontal axis
What movements can occur in the Saggital plane and frontal axis?
Flexion and extension
What movements can occur in the Frontal plane and Saggital axis?
Abbduction and adduction
Elevation and depression
What movements can occur in the Transverse plane and Longitudinal axis?
Internal and external rotation
Horizontal abduction and adduction
