Landing Gear & Brakes Flashcards
How many Green Triangles (on the SD) confirm that the Gear is locked down?
The landing gear positions are indicated by 2 triangles for each gear. The indications are as follow:
Green triangle indicates that one LGCIU detects a landing gear downlocked
Red triangle indicates that one LGCIU detects a landing gear in transit
No triangle indicates that one LGCIU detects a landing gear uplocked
Amber crosses will replace the right triangle to indicate that LGCIU 1 or LGCIU 2 has failed.
What does the RED ARROW on the landing gear selector lever indicate?
This red arrow lights up if the landing gear is not locked down when the aircraft is in the landing configuration, and a red warning appears on ECAM.
What is the sequence of events when Gravity Extension of the L/G is performed?
and what happens to the Doors?
1 isolate hydraulics
2 open doors
3 allow gravity extension
Doors remain open.
Describe how the NWS operates?
A hydraulic actuating cylinder steers the nose wheel. The yellow hydraulic system supplies pressure to the cylinder, and electric signals from the Brake and Steering Control Unit (BSCU) control it.
The BSCU receives orders from:
Captain’s, and the First Officer’s steering hand wheels (orders added algebraically), or
Rudder pedals, or
Autopilot.
What happens when the Button on a Steering hand-wheel is Pressed?
Rudder pedal or autopilot orders are prevented from going to the BCSU.
When does AUTOBRAKE automatically disarm?
After take off, OR
Flight crew applies enough deflection to at least one brake pedal when autobrake is active in MAX, MED or LO mode.
What are the arming conditions for auto brake arming?
Green pressure available
Anti-skid electrically-powered
No failure in the braking system
At least one ADIRU is available
What triggers AUTOBRAKE system operation?
LO, MED - The command for ground spoilers extension is detected.
MAX - AND wheel speed greater than 40kts.
How long can the accumulator hold the park brake ON?
At least 12 hours
If Green hydraulic is lost, which braking system automatically selected?
Alternate braking with anti skid (powered by the yellow system, no auto brake).
When the yellow and green system pressures are low, what mode of braking operates? How many applications can be achieved? What pressure is this limited to?
Alternate braking without anti skid.
7 full applications from the accumulator
Limited to 1000 psi
In the case of a power supply or BSCU failure, which mode of braking operates?
Alternate braking without anti skid.
When does DECEL illuminate?
comes on green when the actual deceleration is 80 % of the selected rate
What Delays occur in LO, MED, & MAX before Braking starts?
LO 4s after spoiler deployment
MED 2s after…………………….
HIGH on spoiler deployment
On the WHEEL SD, what is indicated if a wheel identification number has vertical
(few a/c horizontal) amber lines on each side of it?
Brake release fault
