Landing Gear Flashcards
What does positioning the LANDING GEAR Lever to OFF do?
Removes hydraulic pressure from the Landing Gear System.
What is the purpose of the Lever Lock Override Trigger?
May be used to bypass the Landing Gear Lever Lock under certain conditions. (Terrain contact)
A Gear Position Light is not illuminated with the LANDING GEAR lever in the DOWN position. The Supplemental Gear Position light is green. What is the gear position?
Down.
What is the purpose of the Landing Gear Transfer Valve? Which fluid is used to operate the gear?
Supply the volume of hydraulic fluid needed to raise the landing gear at the normal rate when Hydraulic System A engine-driven pump volume is lost due to the No. 1 N2 Speed dropping below 50% RPM. / Uses system B fluid.
What effect does the Manual Extension Access Door have on the Landing Gear operation?
Landing gear retraction is disabled with the door open.
What does pulling a Manual Gear Extension Handle do?
Release the respective landing gear mechanical uplock, allowing the gear to free-fall, using gravity and air loads, to the down and locked position.
The Landing Gear Configuration Aural Warning (horn) cannot be silenced beyond which flap setting?
Flaps greater than 10 degrees.
What supplies pressure to the Alternate Brake System if Normal Brake System pressure is low or fails?
Hydraulic system A.
How is braking available if both Hydraulic Systems A and B is are lost?
Trapped hydraulic pressure in the Brake Accumulator can still provide several (6) brake applications.
Which Brake System(s) provide(s) skid, locked wheel, touchdown and hydroplane protection?
Both Normal and Alternate Brake Systems
When does RTO braking automatically begin during a rejected takeoff?
Wheel speed of 90 kts, maximum braking is automatically applied when the Forward Thrust Levers are retarded to IDLE.
Landing with the Autobrake set to RTO results in what level of braking?
No automatic braking.
What is the difference between Autobrake 1, 2, 3, and MAX?
Different deceleration rates.
What effect does thrust reverser and spoiler deployment have on the autobraking rate?
Does not affect the deceleration rate. Will reduce the amount the brakes have to work to maintain that deceleration rate.
How is the Autobrake System disarmed after braking begins?
AUTO BRAKE select switch to the OFF position, apply manual braking, one thrust lever advanced out of the idle position after the aircraft is on the ground for more that 3 seconds, Speed Brake Lever movement from the UP position to the DOWN position, fault in the normal Antiskid System, fault in the Autobrake System, or input from one ADIRU is invalid.
