LANDING Flashcards
What aspects define each phase of landing?
- Phase 1:
- Rapid scan (include rwy aspect if visual)
- PAPIs
- Bird on track
- Set appropriate trajectory
- Phase 2:
- Maintain trajectory
- Maintain scan
- Set reference (aiming point)
- Phase 3:
- Visual closure
- Displace reference (gaze)
Transitions among landing phases? From phase 1 to 2? From phase 2 to 3?
Phase 1 to 2: 200ft
Phase 2 to 3: 50ft
Maximum crosswind for an AUTOLAND AEO and OEI?
AEI (A320 with sharklets) - 15kts
OEI (same) - (same)
*Check Operational Quick Access for other types of aircraft.
Maximum crosswind for an auto land with NSW steering offset.
10 kts
LANDING. What is the maximum tailwind allowed for a 3* FO?
Planned tailwind landings are NOT permitted.
Max landing capability with one A/P INOP?
CAT 3 single.
How do we check if we can perform a thrust idle roll out at destination?
By using “2-Medium to poor” on RWY COND. If we get a green margin, we can make it.
How do we know if we can use the FDs down to the touchdown on a RNP approach?
FDs can be used down to touchdown if the MAP starts ON THE RWY.
If not ➡️ AP OFF, FDs OFF, Bird ON.
Pitch for flaps full landing VS F3 landing?
Flaps full: 2.5-3°
Flaps 3: 5°
What is a balked landing?
It is a go around initiated near the ground (during landing from flare until thrust reverse selection).
At airports where the end of the rwy leads to a taxiway, what do you need to do in order to prevent the ROW/ROPS system to activates?
Reduce GS below 70kts before approaching the end of the rwy.
