DESCENT / APPROACH Flashcards
When should a DECELERATED APP begins (F2)?
One dot below glideslope is a good trigger to set F2.
In order to get an appropriate RoD the tail of the bird should be touching the horizon. True or false?
FALSE.
The bird should be put at 2.5° pitch down, having a little margin between the “tail” and the horizon.
What are the possible VERTICAL modes on the FMA? What they consist of?
Open descent and vertical speed.
* OD: Careful cause needs anticipation and idle takes long to recover. Doesn’t take into account CONSTRAINTS. * VS: Anticipate to reduce RoD not to over or undershoot.
By how much is the speed reduce for every NM during approach? What about with landing gear extended?
10kts every 1NM.
20kts if landing gear extended.
When do you PRE-select the appropriate FPA during the approach?
1NM before FAP
When do you select (PULL KNOB) the appropriate FPA during the approach?
0.3NM before FAP.
RNP APP. What is it based on altitude-wise?
BARO altimeter.
What are the requirements you need to comply with before performing and RNP APP?
- Check if GPS required (chart)
- Make sure the TO WYPT is on the top right corner (ND)
- Arm APP phase ONLY when FDP on the top right corner of the ND.
Is it possible to arm APP mode even if the TO WYPT is not on the top right corner of the ND?
Yes. If the WYPT before is 2NM OR LESS you can arm the app before.
What are the deviations for an RNP APP? And GA limits?
- LATERAL: 0.1 XTRK // if 0.3 or more ▶️ Go Around
- VERTICAL: Half dot deviation // if 3/4 ▶️ Go Around
In order to avoid overshooting the altitude you should retract speed brakes AT LEAST…
2000ft before selected altitude.
LATCHED MAGENTA SYMBOL (with yo-yo inside).
What does this indicate to the flight crew? What is the maximum speed the acft will accelerate to in order to remain “latched”?
The aircraft is prioritising the vertical profile over speed (the acft is “latched” on profile).
VMO - 5kts / MMO - 0.01
During an approach conducted with FINAL APP, V/S or FPA mode, the autopilot can be used down to…
250ft AGL
FCOM - Autopilot function
Ident: LIM-AFS-10
When should be done the arrival briefing?
At least 160Nm before destination but recommended at early stages 200-250NM before
How many NMs in advance approximately will you be able to listen to the ATIS?
200NM depending on the terrain in between destination and us.
