Indigenous Land Management Strategies
Managing controlled burns and setting fire breaks to prevent devastating bush fires and to protect outstations and sacred sites
Non-Indigenous Land Management Strategies
Identify weeds and pest animals and eradicate or control those that hold the most threat to native plants and animals
Joint Management Strategy
Collaboration between the CSIRO and indigenous groups to create Indigenous season calendars.
Flora and Fauna Guarantee Amendment Act objectives
- to prevent taxa and communities of flora and fauna from becoming threatened and to recover threatened taxa and communities so their conservation status improves
- to identify and mitigate the impacts of potentially threatening processes to address the important underlying causes of biodiversity decline
Ramsar Convention Objective
halt the worldwide loss of wetlands and to conserve, through wise use and management, those that remain.
Trust for Nature
TFN is an Australian based conservation charity and aims to sustain healthy outdoor environments through the following mechanisms:
- Conservation covenants by purchasing properties through a revolving fund, placing a conservation covenant, selling to a private owner who must maintain vegetation
- Conservation properties, TFN owns 40 properties
- Education - TFN publishes resources to help landlords understand the importance of conserving native vegetation
