Lagos access to saintation problem
contaminated water can cause health problems
sewage is washed away by rainwater into open drainage
the water then carries the pollutants to rivers or lagoon which reaches pit lavatories. polliutants then contaminate water in well
slums and squatter settlements in LAGOS
lack of housing and rapid rate of urbanisation force money to build their own homes online without legal rights or water as they are often on sale they are typically constructed with scraps of material including wood plastic sheeting and metal
60% of people in Lagos live in slums and they are 13 squatter settlements in Lagos e.g. makoko

although Lagos has running by water, the most common way of obtaining for water is buying water for a huge inflated price
10% of the population letting us have piped water supply that has been treated in 90% rely on Wells or Saint Coles to reach underground water Street is only 40% of the state is connected to the state water supply
Access to Engery in LAGOS
Legos doesn’t have enough electricity to power the whole city at once so neighbourhoods to take it in turns
New power stations are being developed, including one powered by methane from the landfill 80% of people rely on disel l generators
Access to health care and education in LAGOS
well healthcare is better legal than where is it may cost money or involve a long queue vaccinations against diseases are available for children but must often be paid for
m only one primary school in the Mococo free education is offered all younger children however in poor areas, many children have to work to support their families
Many doctors moved to places like the UK is called the brain drain and it puts Lagos under considerable stress for healthcare .
Unemployment and crime in LAGOS
There are not enough formal jobs for growing population
Crime rates in Lagos are high, especially those involving drugs, vandalism and theft
around 60% of the workforce is it in informal jobs such as waste recycling and street vendoring These jobs are often in dangerous and unreliable street gang known as the area boys have presents on most streets recruiting children, most members in their 20s are involved in low-level criminal activities. The gang makes money from drugs and offering protection .
Environmental issues
waste is disposed and emissions for factories on regulated or controlled leading to pollution in the air bad traffic congestion and bad links and bad public transport.
Only 40% of the 10,000 tons of waste produced in Lagos is collected 13% is recycled by the 500 people who work in the site informally ,workers face a 2 hour commute in rush-hour known as the “go slow” this is worsend by unlimited public transport and poor links to the city Centre
