Her overpowering distress obstructs her from seeing the distress of her husband. She uses litotes to downplay the murder. It is ironic as Lady M shifts to melodramatic state and speaks hyperbolicly.

- She’s casting a spell nouns “spirit” and “night” allude to dark supernatural force. She yearns to her femininity to encompass the humane and witchlike role that grants her power. Her androgynous nature would be perceived as supernatural as in Jacobean era roles were rigid
Appearence vs reality act 2?
“Look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under’t”
Biblical allusion to “serpent” seen fall of mankind in Genesis. How serpent tempts Adam and Eve is used how Lady Macbeth tempts Macbeth.
Guilt Act 2?
“Has not reesembled my father as he slept,I had done it”
- Begining exposes her guilty conscience coming to service exposing her inner cowardness and ingrained fear of patricide. Lady m is manipulative as she operates with liminal gender.
Act 5 guilt?
“lady Macbeth enters with a taper”
“As a taper provides lights the is symbolic of how Lady Macbeth is seeking light ,hope and solace in her eternal mental darkness. Jesus was light providing salvation for man kind
Act 1 Gender?
“Too full o’th milk of human kindness”
- Suggesting she will replace milk with evil. Noun “milk” symbol for femeninity. Lady M rejects notions of femininity

“I shame to wear a heart so white”
She ridicules nis cowardness . As “white” conmotes purity she is mocking his heart and moral heart
