The date on which dispensed
Name of medicine
Directions of use
Precautions relating to the use
Where applicable, the words ‘For external use only’
The phrase ‘ Keep out of the reach and sight of
children’
What is the difference between warning and auxiliary labels???
Warning labels give info on what to do and what not to do with the medicine.
Auxiliary labels give extra info to help the patient e.g. storage or usage.
What are the requirements for labelling medicines in bulk???
The label must state the label must state;
the name of the medicinal
the ingredients
the quantity
special handling or storage requirements
the expiry date
the batch reference e.g. BN or LOT
Also must be re-labelled before dispensing to patients.

Where appropriate the words “Warning. Do not exceed the

e.g. where a POM was an ingredient but incorporated in such
a way as to exempt it from POM control way as to exempt it from POM control
