Signs: numbness, tingling, confusion
Metabolic Acidosis
low pH, low HCO3
Signs: N/V, confusion, stupor, coma, fruity smelling breath
Metabolic Alkalosis
high pH, high HCO3
Signs: hypotension, tetany, seizures
Hyponatremia
Too little sodium or too much water
Confusion, lethargy, seizures, coma
Hypernatremia
Too much sodium or too little water
Agitation, thirst, dry mucous membranes
Hypokalemia
Too little potassium Abdominal distension (GI smooth muscle issues), diminished bowel sounds, cardiac dysrhythmia
Hyperkalemia
Too much potassium
Mild intestinal cramping, cardiac dysrhythmia, skeletal muscle weakness, paralysis
