LD or LDH
A
Lactate dehydrogenase: enzyme found in almost all body cells and release into the plasma when cells are damaged or destroyed.
- General indicator of tissue and cellular damage.
- Used to monitor progressive conditions such as anemia
- High levels seen with: Hemolytic and pernicious anemia, infections, sepsis, AKI, Acute liver disease, acute muscle injury, pancreatitis, bone fractures, certain cancers

Methylmalonic acid
- often ordered with homocysteine test
- used as a follow up to B12 test
- If there is not enough B12 then MMA begins to rise
- The confirmatory test for B12 deficency
