You should be wearing goggles in laboratory. You should be doing this because you don’t want anything flying into your eye when you cut something or a spark when your heating something up gets in your eye.
Should your hair be hanging down or in front of your eyes while doing an experiment? Why?
No, your hair shouldn’t be hanging down or in front of your eyes while doing an experiment because your hair can catch on fire or it may get caught in something.
Should you be wearing anything flammable such as a scarf?
No
What should your area look like?
Neat, clean, and free of extra materials.
What should you use to hold heated items?
Mits, tongs, or a test tube holder.
Where should pointed objects face?
Pointed objects should face away from you and anyone else.
Should you touch anything that is heated or that you don’t know is heated? Why?
No because you could seriously hurt yourself. An example might be burning your hand.
Should you be sitting when pouring chemicals? Where should you be when pouring chemicals?
You shouldn’t be sitting when pouring chemicals you should be standing and when pouring the chemicals you should be standing by the sink.
Should you wash your hands after handling chemicals?
Yes
Should you be using electrical equipment with frayed cords? Should your cords be lying on the floor? Should cords be near water?
Frayed cords who should not be used for experiments, nor should cords be on the floor because somebody could trip over it, and nor should cords be near water.
Should you be touching equipment with wet hands?
No
If glassware has a chip or cracks in it, should it be used? Why?
No because the chemicals could seep out and hurt you or somebody else.
When cutting objects where should you be cutting?
You should be cutting away from yourself.
