Q

Axillary lymph center infection may result in?

Q

What is sweeney?

A

Suprascapular nerve damage- from heavy working collar or from stopping short and pulling out the nerve. Symptoms include a prominent scapular spine, unstable lateral aspect of the shoulder joint, resulting in abduction. Unsafe to ride.

Q

How do you inject the shoulder joint?

A

Palpate the point of shoulder- greater tuberosity, and the tendon of insertion of infraspinatus, place needle above the point of shoulder and in front of infraspinatus.

16
Q

Palpating lacertus fibrosis will allow you to feel what nerve?

A

Termination of musculocutaneous n.

17
Q

Collecting lymph node for thoracic limb in horses?

A

Cubital lymph nodes

May irritate median nerve if infected- no sensory deficits

18
Q

Where does the ulnar nerve run on the ante brachium?

A

between ulnar head and humeral head of FCU

19
Q

SDF radial head=

A

proximal check ligament

20
Q

How to preform an ulnar nerve block

A

palpate the accessory carpal- go a hand breadth above that point. feel ulnar nerve in space between UL and FCU (no clear point in doing this…)

21
Q

Accessory ligament of the DDF=

A

distal check ligament

22
Q

Thoracic limb vs. pelvic limb distal limb blood supply

A
Thoracic= medial palmar artery
Pelvic= dorsal metatarsal a. on lateral aspect of limb
23
Q

Thoracic limb vs. pelvic limb medial palmar/plantar n. course

A

Thoracic limb= runs between SDF and DDF

Pelvic limb= runs between suspensory lig and DDF

24
Q

What is hygroma?

A

Bump on knee formed when extensor tendon sheath becomes herniated when horse falls

25
Q

Why are medial splint problems more common than lateral splint problems?

A

Weight axis more towards medial aspect
Articular table on medial side is higher, get hit first
carpal 2 articulates entirely with mc 2, while carpal 4 articulates equally with MC 3 ad MC 4 - more even weight distribution
