LAB Muscle & Nervous tissue Flashcards
muscle tissue?
consists of fibers that are modified for contraction
skeletal muscle?
Cells are long cylinders, looks striated, voluntary, is attached to bones by tendons to provide locomotion
fascicles?
bundle of cells
epimysium?
layer of connective tissue that surrounds the whole muscle
perimysium?
thicker layer of CT that surrounds the bundle of cells
endomysium?
thin layer of dense CT connecting it to its adjacent cells
myofibers?
skeletal muscle cells
cardiac muscle tissue?
cells are branched with one central nucleus, involuntary and striated. has intercalated discs that hold fibers together during contraction. (makes of myocardium of the heart)
smooth muscle tissue?
Spindle shaped cells with a single central nuclei, Walls of hollow organs (bladder), involuntary and nonstriated
nervous tissue?
consists of nucleolus and neuroglia, found in brain and spinal cord
