lab 8 Flashcards
When carrying out a metal framework try in what do we look for
- Check the stability of the framework
2. Check the occlusion for clearance of all components
What do free ended saddles tend to do
They tend to rock slightly
If both an upper and lower framework need to be tried in how would you go about this
- Try each framework in independently
- Check the occlusion of both separately
- Then check the occlusion together to ensure there are no premature contacts
How do we examine the framework in the mouth
- Visual examination
- Ask patient for their feedback
- Use articulating paper or occlusal indicator wax
What can we use to check where the metal work needs to be adjusted
Disclosing paste or occlude spray
How can we adjust frameworks?
- Prosthetic burs
2. High speed diamonds
Name the different burs we can use to adjust acrylic framework
- Acrylic burs for gross adjustment
- Black rubber for coarse finishing
- What rubber for fine finishing and polishing
Name the different burs we can use to adjust METAL framework
- Pink stone for gross adjustment
- Green rubber for coarse finishing
- Blue rubber for fine finishing and polishing
What errors can we identify during the metal try in
- The framework not siting properly
2. The framework affecting the occlusion
After a metal try in what do we do
We do a full wax try in which is when the denture has the teeth added to it
What is a wax try in
Trial insertion
Why is a wax try in important
it gives you and the patient the opportunity to see and try in the waxed version of the final dentures
How do we carry out a wax try in
- Check the wax denture on the models
- Then try denture in the mouth independently
- Then in occlusion
What are we aiming to see when we carry out a wax try in
That the patients own teeth should meet as normal
Why id important to thoroughly check the occlusion during the wax try in
As this is the last opportunity you have to put the teeth in to occlusion. Once acrylic has been added you will be unable to do so
