What does recording the occlusion mean?

A

Means using wax in the mouth to be able to put upper and lower models together outside the patients mouth in the same way

When recording the occlusion what are we trying to achieve

A
  1. Trying to relate the upper model to the lower model
  2. Indicate the position of the teeth for aesthetics
  3. Indicate the position of the occlusal plane
  4. Let the technician know the size, shape and shade of the teeth required

A

List the order in which we trim the wax blocks if the patient had no teeth

A
  1. Correct lip support
  2. Adjust incisal level
  3. Make sure wax is parallel with inter pupillary line
  4. Make sure wax is parallel with ala tarsal plane
  5. Adjust height for correct OVD

Why do we correct lip support first

A

As it affects how many teeth you can see in the arch ie if you remove a lot of lip support will see less teeth in the arch
