LAB 7: Biochem test Flashcards
A test that differentiate and identify microorganism that indicates the presence/absence of metabolic and enzymatic pathways.
Biochemical test
Is bacteria capable of cellular respiration?
yes
A type of anaerobic catabolic reaction and the by-product is alcohol, gases, and acids (pH).
Fermentation
TSI test is a differential tube: that detects what?
Carbohydrate fermentation
Gas production
Hydrogen Sulfide production
what does A, K, G, H2S, in TSI meant?
A - acid (yellow/black)
K - alkali (Red)
G- gas production
H2S - Hydrogen Sulfide production (black)
Interpret the result of TSI:
K/A H2S G
Glucose fermenter, hydrogen sulfide production and gas production
Interpret the result of TSI: A/A
Glucose, Lactose, Sucrose Fermenter
Give all the test in Biochem tes
Triple sugar-iron
IMViC: indole, Methyl red, Voges-proskauer, Citriate
SIM: Sulfide, Indole, Motility
Gelatin Test
What sugars does TSI have?
Glucose 1%, Lactose 0.1% , and Sucrose 0.1%.
What does Indole detects?
production of Indole from cleaving the tryptophanase.
What test are conjunction with each other?
Methyl Red and Voges-Proskauer
What does Methyl red detects?
Carbohydrate metabolism in MIXED ACID PATHWAY
What does Voges-Proskauer detects?
Carbohydrate metabolism in BUTANEDIOL PATHWAY
What does Citrate detects?
The metabolism of citrate.
Green = +ve
What does Gelatin detects?
the ability of bacteria to use gelatinase to break down gelatin.
