Lab 6: Sacrum and Innominate BLT Flashcards
1
Q
Bilateral Sacral Extension BLT
A
- Supine patient
- Use caudal palms to lift both ILAs anteriorly and cephalad hand on SI joint
- Air hunger (x3 and readjust after each)
- Reassess
2
Q
Bilateral Sacral Flexion BLT
A
- Supine patient
- Use caudal caudal palms to lift both ILAs anteriorly and cephalad hand to extend L5 (thus flexing the sacrum)
- Air hunger (x3 and readjust after each)
- Reassess
3
Q
Forward Sacral Torsion BLT
A
- Supine patient
- Caudal hand on deep sacral base to BLT point and cephalad hand either on sacral base, ASIS or L5
- Caudal hand applies anterior force while cephalad hand assists sacral base flexion, L5 extension or bridging ASIS, depending on where you place your hand
- Air hunger (x3 and readjust after each)
- Reassess
4
Q
Backward Sacral Torsion BLT
A
- Supine patient
- Caudal hand on anterior ILA to BLT point and cephalad either on ASIS or L5
- Caudal hand applies anterior force while cephalad hand assists L5 flexion or bridging ASIS, depending on where it is
- Air hunger (x3 and readjust after each)
5
Q
Posterior Innominate Rotation BLT
A
- Patient seated and sit in front patient by the feet and hold distal legs.
- Push lat. side up (posteriorly) and pull opposite leg down (anteriorly)
- Tell patient to rotate toward lateralized side until leg goes up, realign the legs as patient holds position.
- Patient inhales and holds for 5-10 s
- Release and reassess

Q
Anterior innominate rotation BLT
A
- Patient seated, and sit in front of patient by the foot and hold distal legs.
- Pull lat. leg down (anteriorly) and push opposite leg up (posteriorly)
- Tell patient to rotate to opposite of lat. side, until opposite leg goes up. Realign the legs as patient holds position.
